Former CEO, PHD Media
David Pattinson currently describes himself as a ‘wingman’, preferring the term to ‘non-exec’. He says “it’s basically watching the backs of CEO’s or companies depending on who is hiring me to help them”. Currently he works for 5 or 6 different organisations, some of which are about passions and most of them are based in the digital world.
In this video, David discusses the key to being a good leader, which is ensuring you make decisions. Even though sometimes you make the wrong decisions but you are making a decision. Every decision that you make is moving the company forward.
He discusses the best piece of advice he was ever given was to try and to set your boundaries and try to set how you project yourself so that people understand you and how launching PHD was one of his biggest successes in life because it was as much about the market that he launched into as the team that they put together.
He will go on to discuss his feelings around making mistakes and how important it is to get the right team in place from the start and how he quickly realised business planning is very important.
